Stop With the 99% Already

Can the whole #occupy movement stop with the “we are the 99%” mantra already? It is a bit much and disingenuous at the very least.

If you want to protest big government, corporate malfeasance, and lack of accountability, good, fine. Do that. But stop with the “woe is me” shtick.

One of the defining factors of the 99% is that fact that, on average, each member has over $45,000 in debt. That is of your own doing and you have no one to blame but yourself for the most part.

For you to cry out against corporate greed is hypocritical, when you condone the personal greed in your own life and don’t hold it to the same standard.

The fact is, many of you got saddled with that debt trying to achieve a lifestyle beyond your means; one that you envisioned would make your lifestyle as much like “the 1%” lifestyle as possible.

There are millions of us who didn’t spend more money than we took in, didn’t try to constantly live beyond our means to keep up with the Joneses, and don’t have debt to our name as a result.

So give up the 99% nonsense. The world doesn’t owe you anything just because you belong to the human race. Start taking responsibility for the choices you make every day.

And stop the hypocrisy as well. You aren’t fooling anyone by marching in and “canceling your BofA” account, when just last week you were standing in line for 6 hours so you could be one of the first to get the new iPhone.
